Rubidium element2018Rubidium element
This mineral deposit is known as an "priceless treasure" with a price of nearly ten billion yuan per ton. Japan, seeing that China has such abundant rubidium, expressed envy, jealousy, and hatred.
So how precious is this mine? Why is Japan so jealous?
Discovery of Rubidium Deposits in Guangdong
Guangdong Heyuan is located in the northeast of Guangdong Province, with a total area of approximately 15900 square kilometers. Over the years, the environment here has been well protected and geological resources are very abundant.
To this day, more than 20 gold mines have been discovered in this area, includingZhonghua Gold MineLocated in Taiping Town in the southern part of Longchuan County, the total amount of gold mines here reaches 400 tons, making it the first gold mine in Guangdong Province. In addition, there are also tin mines. Currently, 15 tin ore deposits have been discovered, with a cumulative tin ore reserve of over 90000 tons.
The rubidium deposit in Heyuan City is mainly distributed in the east, northeast and north of Heyuan City. In 1998, the Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources of Heyuan City discovered the natural rubidium deposit after several surveys. After mining, it was known that the deposit is one of the largest rubidium deposits in the world with the highest grade and the largest resource potential. The total reserves have reached about 15 million tons, and it is one of the main sources of rubidium resources in China.
Through years of survey and research by geologists, coupled with the continuous upgrading of detection equipment and technology, mining has continued in recent years. Until 2018, a large amount of rubidium ore resources were once again discovered in the Tiantangshan mining area in Heyuan, Guangdong.
After studying it, experts found that the rubidium deposits in Tiantangshan are relatively rare: "easier to select and extract" deposits, which exist in rocks with depths of 200 to 600 meters. This means that the difficulty and cost of mining these rubidium deposits are much lower than other deposits.
The ore of this deposit contains up to 770ppm rubidium, which can be extracted using a simple smelting process and high-quality minerals can be obtained with only a few smelting operations.
Rubidium ore is not abundant in global reserves, and so far China is the only country that truly possesses natural independent rubidium ore. With Guangdong as the Heyuan deposit, which accounts for 58% of the world's proven total rubidium content, China is also the first country in the world to establish rubidium mining industry indicators.
In recent years, the world has been confronted with the problem of resource shortage. As one of the Non-renewable resource in the world, the discovery of new rubidium ores in Guangdong Province has timely solved China's demand for rubidium ores, which has freed China from the dilemma of having only rare earth elements as a dominant mineral.
As one of the most economically developed regions in southern China, the existence of rubidium mines undoubtedly makes Guangdong province richer and provides broader space for mineral development.
The existence of rubidium mines has slowed down China's energy issues. In addition to Guangdong, which contains a large number of rubidium deposits, rubidium mines are also distributed in Yunnan, Xinjiang, Sichuan, and other places in China.
So it seems that China has a vast territory and abundant resources of rubidium mines, which is a surprising thing. So what are the uses of rubidium mines? Why cherish it so much?
Rubidium element
Rubidium ore is expensive because it contains a rare metal: rubidium, which is one of the elements at the end of the chemical periodic table and cannot be regenerated. In other words, it can be used as little as possible and will one day be mined out.

Rubidium is a soft metal that is very similar in color to sodium. In the absence of sunlight, it exhibits a silver white metallic luster throughout the body. Rubidium, which has a low melting point and low density, has ultra-high conductivity and thermal conductivity, and superconductivity at low temperatures.

The rubidium ore discovered in Guangdong Province this time mainly comes from the volcanic rocks of the Great Wall in Heyuan area. With high concentration, it is a very valuable high-quality mineral deposit. It is lucky for China to be found in large quantities. Therefore, it should be kept as a key Strategic material and cannot be easily exported.

Guangdong, China, has mined nearly 175000 tons of mineral resources, undoubtedly promoting China's industrial development. This good news has aroused the envy of some countries, among which Japan is the most envious.
Why is Japan Eyered
Everyone is aware that Japan is an island country. Although they are developed countries, their area is only that large, so they not only need to solve the problemPlace of residence of the populationThe problem still needs to be solvedenergy shortageThe problem is that Japan today is truly a resource poor country.
But Japan has been in the past 20 yearsRubidium production and utilizationThe most frequent country, as early as 2009, Japan had included rubidium as a strategic mineral in Japan's "Rare Metal Protection Strategy".
Unfortunately, countries that rely so heavily on rubidium do not have available rubidium mines domestically, so Japan spends a lot of money every year buying rubidium mines from abroad, and China is also one of Japan's suppliers of rubidium resources.
exceptRubidium elementBesides, Japan'sOil and coalIt is also quite rare.
Japan is surrounded by the sea, and although it is rich in mineral resources, there are only 12 types of minerals with reserves in China. Some mines also need to be protected as national strategic reserves, and there are very few minerals available for mining. In order to maintain its own economic development, Japan highly relies on imports for mineral resources, and its energy self-sufficiency rate is less than 10%.
As one of the few developed countries in the world, Japan has been continuously expanding its influence for many years to meet the development of the entire country, in order to one day obtain inexhaustible energy.
When Japan saw that China had mined another precious rubidium mine, it would be false to say it was not envious. If this batch of mines were produced in Japan, just this batch would be able to fully meet Japan's entire rubidium metal demand, and there would still be a lot left for foreign exports to earn higher profits.
Japan's comprehensive conditions determine its strong demand for energy imports. Due to its long-term dependence on resource imports, Japan has also suffered some losses in the international situation. Once these countries restrict energy exports to Japan, it is equivalent to blocking Japan's industrial development path.
In order to alleviate the problem of resource scarcity, Japan has attached great importance to the recycling and utilization of waste energy in recent years, formulated energy-saving and water-saving measures, and continued to promote environmentally friendly travel in society.
except
The rediscovery of new rubidium deposits by China will pose a challenge to Japan's competitive position in resources and strategic interests. China's possession of this batch of rubidium deposits has reduced its dependence on rare minerals from other countries, and on the other hand, promoted China's development in the industrial field.
The rise of China will naturally affect Japan's position. To put it bluntly, Japan is not well received, so every time China makes progress in resource development, Japan will stand up and protest, believing that this is unfair.
Faced with Japan's "unreasonable provocation", while it is not recognized internationally, China also ignores it.
energy shortage
energy shortage
Although China has mined a large amount of rubidium deposits in one go this time, and the total amount of energy minerals in China has greatly increased, we cannot take these precious energy resources lightly and use them casually.
In fact, China's exploitation of traditional energy sources such as coal and oil is approaching the bottom line.
Since the reform and opening up, China has been heavily mining coal and oil, which not only consumes China's resources excessively, but also has a great impact on the environment and health.
Moreover, the mining cost of rubidium ore is high, and the mining technology is particularly complex. Construction teams need to go to harsh areas such as deep mountains and high altitudes for mining. Once mined, it may generate a large amount of waste and tailings, causing serious environmental pollution. Therefore, effective measures must be taken for treatment and governance.
The emergence of rubidium ore proves that it needs to be used, and its use proves that it is gradually decreasing. The existence of rubidium ore is a microcosm of China's energy and mineral structure transformation and upgrading. As a non renewable mineral, China should pay more attention to avoiding situations like coal and oil.
The market price of rubidium ore precisely proves the current global shortage in energy issues.
Energy is gradually decreasing, and we should use rubidium ore in important fields such as green development and technological innovation. At the same time, we should combine China's current national conditions and development stage, scientifically mine energy, use energy reasonably, refuse excessive exploitation, and avoid causing huge harm to the environment before constantly finding ways to make up for it. China should no longer continue to engage in such trades that are not worth the loss.
Nowadays, China has developed some emerging technologies, such as microbial extraction technology, which can use the metabolic activity of bacteria to replace traditional chemical leaching methods, reducing environmental pollution and improving the recovery rate of rubidium.
epilogue
Rubidium mining has brought new opportunities to China's energy market and also provides new opportunities in the industrial field. With continuous technological reform and innovation, the rubidium mining industry will gradually embark on a path of sustainable development.
Although international competition is becoming increasingly fierce and more and more countries are envious of China's vast and abundant mineral resources, China still faces a shortage of other resources and needs to rely on resource imports from other countries.
But we always believe that China will not stop here, and in the future, China will take the field of mineral development and application to a higher level.
