In areas with inconvenient transportation, traditional transportation methods are difficult to carry out due to high mountains and dangerous waters, as well as rugged roads, which restricts the local logistics and industrial development. With the continuous development of technology, drones are providing innovative delivery modes for some mountainous, land and island areas with inconvenient transportation.
In the "UAV Captain's Room" of Ciguangge Material Management Station in Mount Huangshan Scenic Spot, Anhui Province, Hong Xuchen, the transportation director of Dongjin Aviation Technology Co., Ltd., operated the UAV remote control in his hands, and used Dajiang to carry the UAV FC30 to transport more than 20 kilograms of mineral water from the foot of the mountain to the Tianhai Station area near the top of the mountain. The transportation route from the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain took only 5 minutes and 45 seconds. After unloading at the mountaintop, the drone transported the household waste from the mountaintop to the foot of the mountain. The drone can operate for up to 7 hours per day, making it easy to handle material transportation work.
Material transportation in Mount Huangshan Scenic Area has always been a problem. "Affected by the terrain and weather, Mount Huangshan Scenic Spot is facing problems such as insufficient transportation capacity of traditional transportation modes, high labor intensity and unsustainable transportation capacity. In addition, the current tourism market is fully recovering, and the transportation bottleneck is gradually emerging. At present, the main transportation materials in the scenic spot are divided into two parts, with rice, water, oil, flour, and linen as the main supplies for the up side; linen and garbage as the main supplies for the down side. Every year, from April to November, during the peak tourist season The daily average material transportation volume (excluding engineering material transportation) can reach 15 to 20 tons, and the peak demand for material transportation during the tourism off-season from December to March of the following year is also nearly 10 tons Wang Zhengyu, head of Ciguangge Management Station, Material Transportation Service Center, Garden Development Branch of Mount Huangshan Tourism Development Co., Ltd.
In order to solve the problem of mountain transportation, Mount Huangshan Tourism Development Co., Ltd. began to use Dajiang UAV to carry out the pilot work of transportation normalization in the scenic spot after the approval of Mount Huangshan Scenic Area Management Committee in May this year, to help carry the scenic area's living materials, waste, building materials, construction waste and emergency supplies.
Li Xinglong, the transport solution engineer of Shenzhen Dajiang Innovation Technology Co., Ltd., introduced that since May 9, through high-precision route planning and comprehensive consideration of personnel safety, flight safety and other factors, Dajiang UAV has opened a transport route in Mount Huangshan Scenic Area, avoiding the tourist area and precious trees, flying repeatedly within the designated range, and conducting full process control from takeoff to landing, Currently, significant transportation capacity has been formed.
UAV has inserted "wings" for the innovation of Mount Huangshan mountain transportation mode. Transportation operations are carried out through two methods: container and lifting, which basically cover the types of materials required for daily operation in the scenic area. They adopt the transportation method of two unmanned aerial vehicles flying together. Since May this year, the total amount of material transportation has been about 96.6 tons, with a maximum daily transportation volume exceeding 2 tons and a round-trip transportation capacity of 47 trips.
"Mount Huangshan Scenic Area has gradually changed from manpower based transport to human-machine complementarity through the complementary cooperation between UAVs and other transport modes." Wang Zhengyu believes that, in the long run, with the further application of UAVs in Dajiang, it will provide more powerful guarantees for ecological environment protection, mountain terrain material transportation, emergency air rescue and other work in Mount Huangshan Scenic Area.
In addition to mountain scenic spots like Mount Huangshan, there are more and more demands for emergency transportation and mountain engineering transportation. The Dajiang carrier drone has been piloted and applied in areas with complex terrain and meteorology such as Qinghai, Tibet, Sichuan, Guizhou, and Anhui, completing thousands of transportation operations for business supplies, daily necessities, photovoltaic panels, infrastructure materials, and emergency supplies.
Currently, the use of drones for material transportation in cities or remote areas is constantly developing. Liu Yang, Director of the Teaching and Research Office of the Navigation Department of the Civil Aviation Management Cadre College of China, believes that drone transportation has three significant advantages compared to traditional transportation methods: firstly, drone transportation has a low dependence on infrastructure construction and is an effective means to supplement the weak transportation infrastructure in remote areas; Secondly, unmanned aerial vehicles have high transportation efficiency, excellent path selection, and fast flight speed, filling the gap of high efficiency transportation in different scenarios; Once again, drones have a high level of automation and intelligence, which can more efficiently combine automation technologies such as unmanned warehousing and unmanned loading and unloading to enhance the overall level of intelligence in the logistics industry.
Drones not only provide innovative delivery modes, but also empower innovative development in more industries. Liu Yang believes that drone related products have developed from the consumer entertainment attributes of aerial photography applications to application fields such as surveying, inspection, agriculture, and industry, and have begun to undertake functions such as transportation and logistics. The intelligence and safety technology of drones have been significantly improved. As technology matures in the future, drones will carry more commercial value, achieve greater payload, longer range, and higher automation levels.
The application of drones in remote areas has supplemented local logistics and transportation, and has broad market prospects. However, further cost reduction and improvement of supporting systems are needed to gain more market recognition, "Liu Yang said.
