Huawei Mate60 Series Launches Fall Promotion: Up to 800 Yuan Discount, Mate70 Series Coming Soon
On August 15th, Huawei Terminal Weibo announced that the Huawei Mate60 series will launch a fall promotion with discounts of up to 800 yuan. According to official information, the standard version of the Huawei Mate60 has been reduced by 500 yuan, with a starting price of 4999 yuan. The Mate60 Pro series has received an even greater discount of 800 yuan, with a new starting price of 5699 yuan.
According to the 21st Century Business Herald, relevant staff at Huawei's official customer service hotline confirmed that the Mate60 series is indeed undergoing this price reduction campaign. Customers who purchased related products before the price reduction can apply for a "price protection" within the valid period to receive a price difference refund.
According to the Huawei Mall, the Huawei Mate60 (12GB+256GB) is discounted by 500 yuan, starting at 4999 yuan; the Mate60 Pro (12GB+256GB) is discounted by 800 yuan, starting at 5699 yuan; and the Mate60 Pro+ (16GB+512GB) is discounted by 800 yuan, starting at 8199 yuan. However, the Huawei Mate60RS Uncommon Master has not been adjusted in price.
It's worth noting that this is the first official price reduction for the Mate60 series. The price of the Huawei Mate60 series has remained very strong, even during this year's 618 shopping festival on JD Self-operated, the Huawei Mate60 Pro 12GB+512GB version was priced at 6927 yuan, only a few tens of yuan less than the original price of 6999 yuan.
Previously, several digital technology bloggers have revealed that the Huawei Mate70 series will be released later in the second half of the year. This news could be a sign of Huawei's further push into the high-end market.
Besides the Mate series, Huawei's performance in other product lines has also been outstanding. On August 14th, market research firm TechInsights released a report stating that in the second quarter of 2024, Huawei's global smartphone shipments increased by 49% year-on-year, reaching 11.6 million units. At the same time, due to the large proportion of high-end models (the combination of the Mate and Pura series), its average selling price (ASP) and wholesale revenue both hit record highs.
TechInsights stated that the Chinese market remains Huawei's core market, accounting for 89% of its global smartphone shipments. In the second quarter of this year, Huawei launched the Pura70 series, a flagship model targeting the high-end overseas market. Huawei aimed at the high-end market dominated by Apple and Samsung, successfully taking its first step. It is reported that the Pura70 series covers all price segments in China from 5500 yuan to 10999 yuan (approximately $769 to $1539), and the Pura and Mate series have seen a significant year-on-year increase in their proportion of Huawei's total shipments.
In terms of folding screens, in this quarter, the Huawei MateX series and Pocket series saw year-on-year growth of 400% and 50%, respectively. Last quarter, Huawei released the Pocket2, with a retail price between 7499 yuan and 8999 yuan (approximately $1038 to $1246), comparable to the Samsung ZFlip5. In addition, Huawei also released the novaFlip, a more affordable small foldable for the mass market in the nova series this month, which will drive momentum for Huawei's small folding screens in the Chinese market in the coming months.
In terms of shipments, Huawei ranked third in the Chinese smartphone market in the second quarter, shipping 10.4 million units, representing a 57% year-on-year increase. TechInsights also believes that the political and language barriers faced by Apple in China (especially AppleIntelligence) will still leave room for Huawei to grow in the high-end segment of the domestic market.
The price reduction of the Huawei Mate60 series may signal Huawei's preparations for the launch of the new generation Mate70 series. Meanwhile, Huawei's strong performance in the high-end market and folding screen market also indicates its continued strong competitiveness in the future.
