2. Long March 3B Rocket Successfully Launches Communication Technology Experiment Satellite No. 13, Reaching the Milestone of 100 Launches
On December 4th, a Long March 3B carrier rocket successfully launched the Communication Technology Experiment Satellite No. 13 into its planned orbit from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center. 4. China's Largest Diameter Shield Machine, "JiangHai," Arrives in Nantong, Jiangsu, to Aid Construction of World's Longest Underwater Highway Tunnel
China's independently developed "JiangHai," the largest diameter shield machine to date, with its cutterhead central block, has arrived safely in Haimen, Nantong, Jiangsu Province. This gigantic machine will undergo assembly and debugging in Haimen before being used in the construction of the Haimen-Tai Changjiang Tunnel. Located in the Yangtze River estuary, this tunnel, upon completion, will become the world's longest underwater highway tunnel constructed using shield machines, presenting extremely high construction difficulties. The successful development and application of "JiangHai" signify that China's shield machine manufacturing technology has reached a world-leading level, providing strong equipment support for China's large-scale infrastructure construction.
5. Urumqi Half Marathon 2024 Set to Run, Showcasing Xinjiang's Charm Through Winter Sports
The 2024 Urumqi Half Marathon will be held on December 22nd at the Xinjiang Winter Sports Management Center. The first shield machine, "Jianghan Pioneer," for the South-to-North Water Diversion Mid-route's Project to divert water from the Yangtze River to replenish the Han River successfully started operation in BaoKang, Hubei Province, marking the project's entry into a new phase of tunnel excavation. "Jianghan Pioneer" is the largest diameter single-shield hard rock tunneling machine for water diversion tunnels in China, capable of effectively handling complex geological conditions. The project connects two major national water conservancy projects, and its smooth progress is crucial for alleviating water scarcity in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and ensuring regional socio-economic development.
8. Hunan Gold Mine Discovery Garners International Attention
