At 21:40 on July 20, 2023, after about 8 hours of extravehicular activities, Shenzhou 16 astronauts Jing Haipeng, Zhu Yangzhu and Gui Haichao worked closely together to successfully complete all the scheduled tasks of extravehicular activities with the support of the space station manipulator. Astronauts Jing Haipeng and Zhu Yangzhu have safely returned to the Wentian module of the space station, and the extravehicular activities have been successful. In this mission, the astronauts conducted system checks and preparations inside the spacecraft, successfully opened the hatch and entered space, launching a space walk activity.

During the astronauts' extravehicular activities, they completed the installation and lifting of the on orbit support of the core module Omnidirectional (360-degree) camera B, and the unlocking and lifting of the Mengtian module Omnidirectional (360-degree) camera A and B, and the whole process was smooth and successful. Jing Haipeng, an astronaut who has been flying for four times, cooperated with this extravehicular activity from the cabin of Shenzhou 7, and fulfilled his dream of "space walking" with 15 years of dedication; Astronaut Zhu Yangzhu became the first space flight engineer in China to conduct extravehicular activities.
