Nowadays, "AI undressing" technology has generated a black industry chain. Upstream criminals use AI technology to generate images, integrate them, package them into a collection, and sell them to downstream buyers in sets. Some people establish "paid membership groups" for this, causing some innocent people, even minors, to fall into the vortex of "yellow rumors". A reporter from China Youth Daily and China Youth Network conducted an investigation and interview on this matter.
The "AI Stripping" image has been publicly sold
The picture does indeed show my face, but why am I... not wearing clothes here
In May of this year, Li Yi (pseudonym), who was still studying in college, received a picture sent to her by a netizen. After reading it, she was both angry and afraid.
Li is also a cosplay blogger who often shares photos of himself playing various anime characters on social media. Later, she and netizens found Luo Fan (online name) who made nude photos. Luo Fan admitted that he could put the photos into an AI (artificial intelligence) software and "take off" Li Yi's clothes in just a few minutes. On the internet, Luo Fan publicly sells pictures for 5 yuan per photo, claiming that 60 yuan can pack and buy "naked photos" of more than 60 bloggers, including even photos of minors.
I have never taken such a photo before! "Angry Li also set about collecting evidence of the other party's illegal behavior using AI, with the intention of pursuing legal responsibility. Therefore, she became friends with Luo Fan as a buyer.
Luo Fan is not simply using the word "AI undressing" to attract business, but rather vaguely stating that he is "changing the image". "Sister, here is a cosplay's" changing the image "for 5 yuan per image." When Li Yi further asked him how to "change the image", Luo Fan vaguely stated that he used AI technology to generate various cosplay images.
Li also discovered clues from a group chat formed by Luo Fan. Here, Luo Fan not only continues to provide "image modification" services, but also publishes a large number of suggestive and provocative images, publicly selling them in the form of an album, claiming that 65 can be purchased for 60 yuan. "It is expected that a total of 300 images will be gradually updated through group chat.
Who is this? "Li also found his" naked photo "from it and asked Luo Fan to understand. This is Croto (character name) who doesn't wear clothes, and the blogger himself asked him to shoot it like this, "Luo Fan replied with a subtle reminder." Don't mess around with your hair, because the more than 60 bloggers involved in the set of pictures themselves don't agree.
He said this like we bloggers took large-scale photos ourselves! "Li was also very angry, revealing his identity and confronting Luo Fan.
Sorry sister! "Luo Fan admitted to having" re created "Li Yi's picture. Li Yi said that this was not the normal scope of "secondary creation", but violated her Personality rights.
Luo Fan argued that these series of pictures were not created by him, "they were done by someone else." Luo Fan did not realize the seriousness of this matter and discussed with Li Yi, "I only have a balance of 1200 yuan in my card. Can I compensate you with 650 yuan
This is not a matter of money, you have already violated the law, "Li Yi and other bloggers chose to report to the police.
Black industry chain plagues minors
Li Yi's experience is not an exception. AI technology is being abused, and a black industry chain is forming.
On the internet, as long as you enter keywords, you can easily find merchants who provide "AI stripping" related technology or services. They advertise business on social media under the banner of "AI painting" and "AI image modification", guiding customers to add their contact information. After one-on-one communication or joining private group chats, they present suggestive images to induce netizens to make purchases.
The victims of "AI undressing" are numerous, even affecting minors. A seller claimed to have "numerous resources" and sent a complete price list, detailing the collection into various categories such as "celebrities", "internet celebrities", "models", and "comics". In the sample pictures he sent, even high school students wearing school uniforms appeared. He claims that if there is no favorite type, customers can send photos for "single image customization", with a price of two yuan per photo. "Images on the internet can be used as materials.
Another seller also uses a membership system to invite customers into the group, stating that "there are already two to three hundred atlases in the group", and they can enjoy free continuous updates for only 30 yuan to join the group. When a reporter from Zhongqing Daily and Zhongqing Net further inquired about the source of his atlas, he hesitated and said that his resources were downloaded from a certain website, "I didn't do it myself.
"In fact, as long as people have mastered the relevant technology, they can use AI to make these pictures." Lan Tian, a senior algorithm engineer, told the reporter of Zhongqing Daily. Zhongqing. com that the "AI undress" algorithm is called "DeepNude". Because of ethical problems, it has been removed from the shelves in the United States, but it does not exclude that some people train machines through other AI algorithms to achieve the same effect.
On a certain communication software, an AI robot has gained numerous users. It does not require users to master complex algorithmic knowledge, just follow its prompts to complete operations such as "changing face" and "removing clothes" for photos. This robot also has detailed and refined settings, which can adjust various parameters of the image like a beauty camera.
This robot requires payment to use. After clicking the "recharge" button, users will be guided to a point card recharge website for online payment. However, users are not paying merchants, but individuals, making it difficult to track the operating entity of the robot. According to its price list, a minimum of two yuan can generate a strip photo.
The machine is neutral. As long as it is fed enough human body structural maps, the machine can redraw the entire image by recognizing facial and body features when inputting the image, generating a 'strip photo'. Blue Sky said that the machine "only cares about photo generation" and does not take into account ethical and legal issues such as the wishes of the person in the photo or whether they are of age.
"From the perspective of technology tool theory, technology is neutral and harmless, but this understanding ignores the moral relevance of technology." Xie Ling, associate professor and master's supervisor of Criminal investigation College of Southwest University of Political Science&Law, believes that there are differences between technologies. It is difficult to predict the consequences of the abuse of some new technologies, such as deep forgery technology, and its moral, ethical and legal issues are more complex.
Constructing Network Security Rules from the Principle of "Most Beneficial to Minors"
Lawyer Yao Zhidou, a partner of Beijing Jingshi Law Firm, has been exposed to numerous cases of abuse of new technologies that infringe on the rights and interests of minors. In one case, an illegal individual used the "AI Face Changing" software to replace a large number of facial information collected from internet channels of underage students, create and generate false and obscene face changing videos, and then sell the videos for a fee. This not only infringes on the portrait rights and mental health of underage students, but also involves the crime of spreading obscene materials for profit
"To deal with the risks of new technology and new application, we need to build safety rules from the perspective of the principle of 'most beneficial to minors' and the perspective of' children's rights'." Guo Kaiyuan, an expert in juvenile law research at China Youth Research Center, believes that in view of the risks brought by new technology and new application, we should grasp the special protection of minors and the Dynamic equilibrium of new technology application. Relevant departments should establish rules as soon as possible to protect children, respect privacy, and provide special protection, especially to establish hierarchical management rules based on age standards, and rules for informed consent of guardians.
Xie Ling called for the classification and evaluation of the application risks of new technologies, the establishment of institutional barriers for new technology regulation, and the clarification of the boundaries for the rational use of technology. If there is no barrier established against technology abuse, strict regulations should be imposed on the online application of such high-risk new technologies, as "new technologies are highly likely to lead to the emergence of new types of illegal behavior in the future".
Yao Zhidou stated that there are certain difficulties in regulating cybercrime. Evidence of cybercrime is mainly stored in network servers, and in the face of complex and diverse forms of electronic data, there are certain difficulties in obtaining evidence. In addition, it is difficult to determine the identity of the offender, and some criminals are abroad, posing challenges to the jurisdiction of the case.
In fact, in response to the risks brought by new network technologies and applications, relevant departments have increased their efforts to crack down.
One of the seven key focuses of this special action by the Central Cyberspace Administration is to address the risk issues of new technologies and applications, including the use of technologies such as "AI face changing", "AI drawing", and "AI one click undressing" to generate vulgar pornographic images and videos involving minors; Using the so-called "burn after reading" secret chat software to lure minors into providing personal information and induce illegal behavior; Using generative artificial intelligence technology to produce and publish harmful information involving minors.
This releases a signal that the country is increasing its efforts to improve the online environment and effectively strengthen the protection of minors' networks. Xie Ling pointed out that this special action is aimed at preventing minors from engaging in inappropriate online behavior and becoming a "tool person" for new types of online illegal and criminal activities. It is also aimed at implementing the Law on the Protection of Minors The specific embodiment of the relevant legal protection measures of the Law on the Prevention of Juvenile delinquency.
Now, Li Yi has stepped out of her psychological shadow and said, "I cannot stop my love for life because of these things
