Foreign media reported that Chai has informed Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi that he intends to leave, but has not yet made a decision on the timing of his departure.

Chai was appointed as the Chief Financial Officer by Uber in 2018, and a year later he led the company to complete its IPO. Prior to joining Uber, Chai held senior positions at the New York Stock Exchange, Merrill Lynch and CIT Group.

It is understood that despite recent growth in Uber's business, the company is still cutting costs. The company stated in May that it is expected to achieve revenue profitability this year.
