Chinese chips are despised by Russia? Self production of 90 nanometer SIM cards is just the beginning

In the face of the multifaceted economic warfare initiated by the West, Russia should not only ensure its sovereignty, but also obtain basic security. The goose has noticed that it is particularly vulnerable in the civilian high-tech field.
In the field of security, Big Goose dare not rely on China. The West is fiercely competing with China in the high-tech field. The United States and other Western countries have blacklisted multiple Chinese chip companies. The goose is now fully aware of the seriousness of the problem and is working in this direction.

Mikron plans to mass produce SIM chips next year. Although the production capacity cannot meet the demand yet, Big Goose still feels very proud: at least in principle, it can cope with the risk of external cessation of communication service products.
Interestingly, this work did not start suddenly. The project has been under development since 2013. However, progress has been very slow. It was not until recently that the determination of the Big Goose Digital Development Department made this project active.

Russian telecom operators will purchase SIM cards from Western manufacturers before 2022. Now they have shifted their attention to the 'Chinese', but Chinese products are two to three times more expensive than European products. After the chip became unsold, there was also dumping.
Big Goose chip manufacturers have not stood idly by and are seeking protection from fierce competition from Chinese competitors. They demand tariffs on the import of smart cards (SIM cards, bank cards, and transportation cards). The current tax rate is zero, while the average tax rate for components is 7%. Domestic chip companies in Russia are in a significant loss situation. Based on this, they even started discussing the possibility of producing Mir payment system cards outside of Russia. This is obviously unreasonable.
Currently, most Russian banks purchase cards from domestic companies in Russia. For example, Post Bank and Sberbank

Order a bank card from Mikron Company mentioned above.
In the field of cellular communication, the situation is much more complex. Russia's dependence on foreign supply is almost 100%. Yes, on the surface, many SIM cards are issued by Novacard, Altair, and Eastkompis. However, the core parts of these SIM cards need to be imported.
If all SIM cards are to be replaced with domestically produced ones in Russia, then Russian mobile operators will face a lot of problems, and the future workload will be huge, which may also increase the burden on consumers.
The goose now understands that it is too late to hold accountable for the situation today. The so-called 'buying is better than making' has delayed the revitalization of the country. In the core technology field, efforts should be concentrated as much as possible to create things for the geese themselves, rather than blindly turning to the east. If we don't have our own technology, the results will only be worse, the products will only be more expensive, and there may even be no other choice.
