On November 14th, according to foreign media reports, Amazon plans to lay off more than 180 employees in its Amazon gaming department to save costs, and close some businesses that focus on streaming and support third-party games.
As part of the restructuring, the company will close its gaming growth and Crown Channel plans. Christopher Hartmann, Vice President of Amazon Games, said that Amazon will now focus on upcoming games such as "Throne and Freedom" and "Blue Protocol", as well as planning games such as "Tomb Raider" and "Lord of the Rings".
According to insiders, Amazon began layoffs in its streaming music and podcasting departments last week, as well as cutting a very small number of jobs in its human resources department, Personnel Experience and Technology (PXT).
It is worth noting that this is the second time this year that Amazon's gaming department has reported layoffs. Previously, in April of this year, the department had laid off about 100 employees.
