China's Power Generation Capacity Continues to Grow, with Solar and Wind Energy Showing Strong Performance
According to the National Energy Administration's statistics on the national power industry for January-July, as of the end of July, the total installed power generation capacity in China reached approximately 3.1 billion kilowatts, representing a year-on-year increase of 14.0%. Among them, solar power generation capacity reached about 740 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 49.8%; wind power generation capacity reached approximately 470 million kilowatts, a year-on-year growth of 19.8%. These figures indicate that China's power generation capacity continues to grow, with particularly notable increases in the installed capacity of new energy generation, where solar and wind power maintain strong momentum.
The report reveals that during January-July, the national average utilization hours of power generation equipment totaled 1,994, a decrease of 91 hours compared to the same period last year. This signifies a sustained ample electricity supply, but also reflects certain pressures facing the power sector.
Furthermore, during January-July, major power generation enterprises in China completed investments of 415.8 billion yuan in power source projects, representing a 2.6% year-on-year increase; grid projects saw completed investments of 294.7 billion yuan, marking a 19.2% year-on-year growth. These figures demonstrate that investments in the power sector remain positive, providing strong support for its development.
Overall, the Chinese power industry exhibits a positive trend, with continuous growth in installed capacity and a robust development trajectory in new energy generation, laying a solid foundation for achieving carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals. In the future, as energy structure adjustments progress, the power sector will embrace new development opportunities.
