Specifically, the entry threshold for full-time riders has increased, the order volume has decreased, the unit price per customer has decreased, and the daily workload of existing riders has decreased. What are delivery riders experiencing in an increasingly difficult employment environment? Let's take a look at their story together.
People become numb after being in the system for a long time.

At first, I was shocked to see some orders that cost an average of one yuan per kilometer. Because the distance between picking up and delivering that order is about 5KM, it will take half an hour or over forty minutes to deliver it. On average, the hourly salary of a rider is only 10 yuan - lower than doing odd jobs.
Over the past six months, with the passage of time, almost every one or two weeks, we have seen lower unit prices being released than we have known, and riders cursing and taking orders. After the Spring Festival, it is obvious that the number of takeout riders is already overloaded.
Specifically, the entry threshold for full-time riders has increased, the order volume has decreased, the unit price per customer has decreased, and the daily workload of existing riders has decreased. Some stations simply set a maximum running limit for riders. Once that number is reached, they are required to stop work and go offline.
This morning's order added up to 7.5KM for pick-up and delivery, with a delivery fee of 2.7 yuan. The average delivery fee per kilometer is 0.36 yuan. According to this distance and the corresponding salary standard, if a rider works with 2 orders per hour, the hourly salary may only be 5 yuan.
In less than thirty seconds, this order was taken away.

Some riders have found that their area has started testing for adverse weather conditions such as rainy days and will no longer increase weather subsidies. After the subsidy is stopped, there will be riders watching, but in the end, only disappointment remains.
They even hate those people who pick up all the orders they have. "The platform is indeed trying, there is no rain or other weather subsidies. Let's see if anyone is running?" Some people think, "Look at the weather outside, it's better to stay at home, it's not worth it
But those orders were ultimately responded to in the system.
For algorithms, machine data matching is absolutely rational. As long as the order is delivered by someone, the system can automatically generate lower dynamic unit prices based on the strategy. At the same time, due to a shortage of upstream orders, the system has promised to push more orders, but corresponding to lower unit price rider brands, it is easy to recruit riders.
Riders are too eager for 'security' in their hearts.
Rider Zhang Qiang is one of them. He listened to the promotion and participated in the Changrun. After working for half a day, he delivered 11 orders. The initial delivery fee is 22, the difficulty bonus is 2.5, and the slot bonus is 1.1. All of them add up to 11 orders and earn 25.6 yuan. He is a novice and only joined Changpao after hearing that he has a lot of orders to make money and can sign contracts every day.
When he actually ran down, he found that after all kinds of subsidies were added, the average price was one order, two dollars and five dollars. He was a little worried: Is it too X?

Like Zhang Qiang, rider Wen Feng also had a bit of a breakdown.
After more than an hour of construction today, I received one order with a revenue of 3.5 yuan. After deducting the insurance of 3 yuan per day, only 0.5 yuan remains. She was completely engrossed and kept working online while waiting for orders when there were no orders. But sometimes, as soon as the system is halfway through, the order is taken away. Sometimes, there is no sound for hours at all.
The drop in takeout orders has made the riders feel very physical, and this trend has already begun since the Spring Festival. In the context of insufficient upstream orders and an influx of downstream riders into the industry, many people enter the profession of riders, but in reality, when they enter the industry, there is nothing left to do. So in the community of riders, different people are changing their electric bikes or rider equipment every day.
The old riders resent the new riders taking on all orders. The newcomers are Little Catfish, and the more newcomers there are, the lower the average income of the entire system. So when the old rider saw the newcomers crowding and running, he always poured cold water on them: "Running for more than 20 yuan a day, so cheap, what do you think? The newcomer's entry into the industry has been hit hard. Because skilled old riders cannot find anything to do. Kevin has been unable to sign for the Cavalry team for several consecutive weeks. Without anything to do, he also started running crowdsourcing. He said that not only other cities but also Beijing crowdsourcing have no orders now.
On Monday and Tuesday, he tried to pick up orders from crowdsourcing and found that there were less than 10 orders in a day. It wasn't until Wednesday that it started to feel slightly better than before. He suspects that white-collar workers are starting to bring food again. The scene is probably: cooking at home on weekends and bringing food to the company on Mondays. I continued to hold on for a day on Tuesday, but couldn't hold on until Wednesday when I started ordering takeout.
According to the current rolling method, the unit price can still be further lowered. Some twin orders (with the same pickup address) and some orders that are easy to deliver on the street may have their prices further lowered by the system. In the current situation where orders become benefits, on-the-job riders are even more afraid to refuse orders.
Novice Zhao Jing said that it rained heavily yesterday and after she refused an order, the system stopped sending her orders. She thought it would be better today, but she didn't expect to send the bill yesterday or today. This punishment caused her to have a bit of a mental breakdown: after running for five or six days, she refused one order and stopped sending orders. How else can I do this job while still in my beginner's stage?
In the end, the job of a rider will become an illusion.
