On July 20th, according to Counterpoint's latest report on global cellular IoT modules and chipset trackers, the global shipment volume of cellular IoT modules (excluding automotive embedded and remote information processing modules) in Q1 2023 remained unchanged from the same period last year. However, compared to the first quarter of 2020, the shipment volume in the first quarter of 2023 has more than doubled.

According to the report, Mobile Communications led the cellular IoT module market in the first quarter; Following closely behind, TelitCinterion was formed by the merger of Telit's acquisition of Thales' cellular IoT module business; Guanghe Tongze ranks third. The three manufacturers collectively accounted for more than half of the total shipments of cellular IoT modules in the first quarter of 2023.

On a global scale, shipments from China and India have achieved positive growth, while shipments from the United States, Latin America, Japan, South Korea, and Eastern Europe have decreased year-on-year.

Regarding the market dynamics of original equipment manufacturers for cellular IoT modules, Senior Research Analyst Soumen Mandal stated that the cellular module market is undergoing a unique transformation in terms of region and technology, with some low-power and low-cost technologies being rapidly applied in China. At the same time, we can also see the rapid integration and exit of cellular module suppliers in markets outside of China, where technology applications are quite dispersed and vary by region.
