On July 25th, according to Reuters, a federal jury in Waco, Texas, ruled that Alphabet's Google remote streaming technology infringed on a software developer's patent rights and must compensate $338.7 million.

The jury believes that Google's Chromecast and other devices have infringed on TouchstreamTechnologies' patent rights, which involve streaming videos from one screen to another.

We have been independently developing technology and competing based on our ideas, "Google spokesperson Jose Castaneda said. The company will appeal this ruling.

Google's Chromecast media streaming device was launched in 2013. It is reported that Touchstream stated in the 2021 lawsuit that founder David Strober invented a technology in 2010 that could "move" videos from small devices such as smartphones to large devices such as televisions.
