After a interlocking flight process, 1731 grams of lunar samples were brought back, becoming the world's largest single unmanned lunar sampling mission.

Hu Hao stated that the lunar sample is highly recognized internationally, and some foreign experts and research institutions are also eager to obtain this sample for scientific research. The team is organizing research on how to implement these procedures and methods, gradually opening up to the international community. International colleagues can also participate and apply to study samples obtained from the moon in China.

Hu Hao introduced that in accordance with the requirements of the National Space Administration's "Measures for the Management of Lunar Samples" and the "International Cooperation Management Rules for Lunar Samples and Scientific Data", the application steps for Chang'e-5 lunar scientific research samples open to the international community are: online registration, filling out application materials, letter review, defense, review, signing agreements, receiving, returning, etc. The specific requirements and processes will be published on the National Space Administration's website.

At present, NASA has completed the distribution of six batches of 258 lunar samples totaling 77.68 grams to Chinese scientists. Published over 70 papers in authoritative journals both domestically and internationally. Through the study of lunar samples, it has been determined that the formation time of young basalt is 2.03 billion years, which is 800 million years longer than previous human cognition.
