Panel Market "Peak Season Not Peak," Smartphone Panel Prices Continue to Decline

A recent report from CINNOResearch states that despite the arrival of the traditional peak season in the third quarter and an increase in end-demand, the overall market remains in a state of oversupply. Channel inventories are high, and panel manufacturers are taking a conservative stance on the peak season effect, resulting in a "peak season not peak" situation.

The report reveals that while the high-end smartphone market is showing positive trends, domestic brands have limited market share in this segment, leading to a contraction in overall domestic demand and continued decline in smartphone panel prices.

Specifically, CINNOResearch predicts that a-Si/LTPS prices will continue to decline in August and September. a-Si panels are expected to drop by $0.1 per month, while LTPS panels are expected to decline by $0.2 per month. Rigid AMOLED panel prices are relatively stable in the short term, while flexible AMOLED panel prices are narrowing their decline, expected to drop by $0.5 per month.

This phenomenon reflects the current severe challenges faced by the panel market. A combination of supply-demand imbalance, channel inventory buildup, and sluggish market demand is driving the continuous decline in panel prices. While the high-end smartphone market is showing signs of recovery, domestic brands still need to enhance their competitiveness in this segment to effectively boost overall market demand growth.

Looking ahead, the panel market will face even more challenges, and industry competition will intensify. Panel manufacturers need to actively explore new growth points, such as expanding into emerging application areas, developing more advanced technologies, and enhancing product competitiveness to survive in this fiercely competitive market.
