Recently, the Suqian Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology announced the official designation of two new municipal-level research and development (R&D) institutions: the Suqian Smart Highway Engineering Technology Research Center, under Suqian Transportation Engineering Testing Co., Ltd., and the Suqian Green Building Materials Intelligent Construction Engineering Technology Research Center, under Jiangsu Tongtai Green Building Materials Technology Co., Ltd. This marks a significant advancement in Suqian's technological innovation capabilities in the transportation and building materials sectors, injecting strong momentum into their high-quality development.
The establishment of the Suqian Smart Highway Engineering Technology Research Center represents a crucial step forward in the city's smart highway construction efforts. Adopting a "government-industry-academia-research" (GIAR) integrated innovation model, the center seamlessly integrates basic research, applied research, physical verification, results dissemination, and industry standard setting, forming a complete technological innovation cycle. It focuses on addressing technical challenges in highway engineering, primarily conducting R&D and application of technologies and equipment related to preventative maintenance, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly maintenance, specialized maintenance and repair, and intelligent detection. Specifically, the center will explore advanced predictive maintenance technologies to reduce highway damage and maintenance costs; develop and apply low-carbon and environmentally friendly maintenance materials and technologies; develop targeted repair technologies and solutions for different types of highway damage; and utilize AI and big data for real-time monitoring and assessment of highway conditions, providing scientific basis for maintenance decisions. These technologies will significantly enhance highway safety, reliability, and service levels, supporting Suqian's transportation development.
Simultaneously, the Suqian Green Building Materials Intelligent Construction Engineering Technology Research Center provides strong technical support for the city's green building materials industry. Since its establishment, the center has actively promoted green building materials technology innovation, achieving significant results in the R&D and application of high-performance building materials. It has overcome key technical challenges in high-strength concrete, iron sand concrete, high-performance asphalt pavement materials, and high-RAP (Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement) asphalt concrete, applying these technologies to real-world engineering projects. These breakthroughs have effectively improved the performance and durability of building materials while reducing resource consumption and environmental pollution. The center has also undertaken major municipal scientific and technological projects, accumulating 15 utility model patents and 2 invention patents, demonstrating strong research capabilities and innovation capacity. The breakthroughs in high-strength concrete significantly improve the load-bearing capacity and seismic performance of building structures; the development and application of iron sand concrete effectively utilizes industrial waste; high-performance asphalt pavement materials enhance road wear resistance and durability; and the promotion of high-RAP asphalt concrete facilitates the recycling of waste asphalt materials. These technological achievements have been applied to key provincial and municipal projects, achieving good economic and social benefits and injecting new vitality into Suqian's green building materials industry.
The Suqian Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology's designation of Suqian Transportation Engineering Testing Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu Tongtai Green Building Materials Technology Co., Ltd. as municipal-level R&D institutions fully affirms their technological innovation capabilities and reflects the city's emphasis on technology-driven development.
